Steven Pashko, PsychotherapistFree Your Mind: It's Not What You ThinkDr. Steven Pashko, PsychotherapistContact Steven Pashko

Dissatisfaction is felt by most everyone. When we try to get rid of it by getting more power, things, praise, and the like, it doesn’t lessen. People look in the wrong direction, outward instead of inward. The suggestion is made to wake up out of the thought streams that keep your mind harmfully clouded. One needn’t consider stopping thought streams but practice at not becoming involved in them seems quite helpful. With clarified consciousness, thought streams can be seen for what they are…a mistaken investment in a collection of preferences from which a practical, but false, personal identity is made. You are not your beliefs, opinions and thoughts. You are the awareness within which they occur. When the self is viewed simply as the sum total of ones conditioning, and not a personal identity, it becomes much less relevant and withers away.

You are invited to come to the understandings that no personal self needs to be conceptualized in order to function effectively in this complex world. Identity is defined as the constant of one’s existence. Awareness, the same awareness that’s always been present, is the best description of a truest identity. Peace, freedom and profound satisfaction are the natural result of understanding and living as this.
